Meet Director of Operations Jason Lawton, IACCP®
Jason brings over 25 years of industry experience and a diverse set of skills and knowledge to tru. After graduating from the University of Oregon, his career development progressed through escalating roles within brokerage operations, securities litigation consulting, investment consulting and multi-family office operations, and as co-owner/operator of an independent RIA, making him the perfect fit to lead the operations team at tru while serving advisors with his developed skill stack.
Over his career Jason has seen a shift from a commission-based Broker/Dealer model to a fee-based RIA model. One reason this trend exists is the proliferation of technology and automation solutions at a price point that is friendly to smaller, independent firms. You don’t have to be tied to a large institution to have access to the best tech tools anymore. This leaves room for individuals to build and grow their business in their own image. Coupling those solutions with tru’s subject matter expertise and model of service only makes it easier.

When not in the office Jason loves to travel with his family. With a strong connection to Maui, he values family time and creating lasting memories on the island. Married for 18 years, he enjoys sharing adventures with his wife Tanya and two teenaged children, Kam and Ethan. You can count on him to always cheer for University of Oregon sports teams, especially during football season, which he's passionate about.
