Meet Thomas Boone! Advisor Experience Analyst at tru Independence
With a passion for finance and business development, Thomas brings a unique eye to the Advisor Experience team at tru Independence. In his role, he and his team work closely with clients to help develop an efficient and productive operation. Whether it's reconciling financial data, troubleshooting, or processing client paperwork, Thomas aims to make each advisor’s businesses run smoothly, in hopes it will allow advisors to focus on what matters most, their clients.
His journey to tru is rooted in a background as a private consultant, insurance, estate planning, financial analytics, and technology services. Each of these with a specialized focus in workflow optimization and efficiencies.
"I’ve always been drawn to the idea of helping companies reach their goals through effective, tailored strategies. We live in an age where no matter the size every firm has the access to the best tech and can mix and match help best help construct what their dream firm is." This experience has translated seamlessly into his current role, where he leverage those insights to provide service to each unique partner.
One of the recent highlights in Thomas’ career has been the launch of "truView," tru’s business management system designed to streamline operations and give advisors more control over their business. “It’s exciting to work with our clients as they transition to truView and build out reports that align with their specific goals. Like all new systems there are bugs but being here at the beginning and seeing how it has grown is inspiring."
tru Independence has also provided Thomas with invaluable exposure to the growing field of alternative investments—a sector that’s gaining traction with individual retail investors. "Alternative investments are evolving, and it's a fascinating time to be part of this development," he notes.
Outside of work, Thomas enjoys the great outdoors and embraces his Oregonian roots. When not at the office he can often be found hiking, gardening, or exploring anywhere with his dog, Bandit a 14 year old blue heeler he has had since a puppy. Bandi has traveled the country with me and some parts of the world. For a great story, ask Thomas about the time he and Bandit, found themselves stranded in Chile and ended up buying a $14 ticket on a freighter to come back to the US.
A lesser-known fact about Thomas is his involvement with youth mentorship programs. Through organizations like Youth & Government, FFA, and FBLA, he works with young people to pursue their own passions.
For those entering the industry, Thomas has one key piece of advice: never stop learning. With degrees in Accounting and Finance, and a recent return to school for Computer Science, exemplify tru’s culture of continuous growth. “I’m always on the lookout for new knowledge and skills, when I stop learning is when I stop living. I took advantage of every educational opportunity, even when I couldn’t follow the traditional path. It’s about seizing the chance to grow and making the most of each opportunity."
