Meet Terry Warren, Compliance Officer at tru Independence.
Born and raised in Delaware, Terry moved to Oregon to attend the University of Oregon (UO). In 1987, while living in San Francisco, he stumbled into the world of financial services and worked for 28 years at a prominent financial services firm. During his tenure Terry navigated through various roles and challenges with resilience. It taught him the value of commitment and the importance of making deliberate choices with the idea of how they will impact the long game.
After San Francisco, Terry relocated back to Portland to work in compliance at a local financial services firm. It was then he crossed paths with Stacy Sizemore, tru's CCO, whom quickly recruited him to work at tru. Since joining the tru Community, Terry has proven to be an asset and a culture setter, thriving on fostering genuine connections with both clients and colleagues alike.
Outside of the office, Terry finds joy in simple pleasures. Whether he's delving into a good book, taking leisurely walks, or most of all cheering on his alma mater, the UO football team... Terry brings his joy for life into everything that he does.
Terry noted, “I’m excited to see all these people I went to school with and have known most of my life become grandparents. Life is crazy, where time goes on and looking back and realizing how fast it all goes by, there are always things to look forward to and excited about.”
Looking towards the future, Terry is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Having spent the majority of his career with large firms, he sees the importance of specialization that smaller enterprises like tru Independence offers. Where every individual – be it a colleague or a client – can play a more integral part of the big picture.
